The Wasteful Culture of Forever 21, H&M, and 'Fast Fashion'

This article was very eyeopening for me. Fast fashion is quite apparent in our society, but we don't always think of the repercussions. We have grown accustomed to purchasing items for cheap because that is exactly what they are: cheap. The impact of these large companies such as Forever 21 and H&M is astounding. Not only is the way the garments were made poor, but the way the garments are disposed of (or the lack there of) is also poor. People wind up wearing many of these pieces a few times then realize it has no value compared to a Valentino, Dior or Prada and then they want rid of it. Next thing, these items are stuck in a goodwill and it is likely it'll never be sold. or, worse, it will be dumped in a landfill with thousands of other items alike that need to somehow magically disappear.

If nothing else, we as a people should appreciate and respect the time, effort and quality of higher end brands. These designers have stayed true to themselves and have a unique passion for the industry that they are not willing to compromise.
